Athletics, fitness, and nutrition related discussion.
Did you work out today? I biked 30 miles yesterday but I didn't take any pictures.
>>ffit-CAUOA628 I've never gone to a gym much, I've always done mostly body weight exercises. I always feel less motivated to work out when I have a membership, like feeling more motivated to work on projects when I don't tell anyone I'm doing them.
>>ffit-0226FKQC Understandable, the gym is a weird place. I don't mind it just because I am a little tardy so as long as I don't think I smell (too bad) idc if people see me doing stuff. today I went for 2 walks already and did like 30 push ups. Do you have any body weight exercise suggestions I could do at home? We've got a heat wave rn and I'm not trying to be walking for too long
>>ffit-Y2L1IUMF This is some weebshit but I unironically just worked my way up the workout Saitama does: 100 each situps pushups and squats (also 10km run but we're not talking about cardio). I do 3-5x a week instead of every day though. Maybe I have strong legs but squats aren't very hard so I'm not opposed to some weights on that one. I am not very good at fitness science, I try to focus more on consistency and long term commitment than a perfectly crafted workout. For keeping cool I focus on time under tension and slow reps (2-3s per) rather than high weight. Most of the benefits about it being more efficient and better at hypertrophy are literal nonsense, it's the exact same as any other workout I just personally enjoy it more.
>>ffit-8VVHPCW9 I bike along a creek too, though ours has a paved trail instead of a road. I think I'm going to try for more short rides, I really like long trips but sometimes I slack on my cardio after long days at work because I don't have the energy for 20+ miles.
