i want to host my own instance on my own hardware, but i don't want to leak my IP. Is there anyway I can go about doing this? How do you guys host your instances?
>>3OJ0P0PJ >i want it to be clearnet first of all: no you don't, clearnet is shit these days second, here is the black pill: there is no way to truly hide your ip on the clearnet. you can use a reverse proxy like cuckflare (protip: don't) so visitors won't know your real ip, but then not only will cuckflare know exactly who you are but also litteraly MitM your connections: instead of just proxying it, they will also have you use their rigged tls certificate that allows then to decrypt any connections made to your server. do yourself a favor and remove their certificates from your browser https://kill-9.xyz/guides/distrust_cloudflare >Am I better off just paying for a hosting solution? do you even have a good reason for wanting it to be clearnet, faggot? onion services are much easier to set up: no domain name bullshit, no tls mafia, no ip leak (unless you fuck up big time), NAT punching by default (important if you are gonna host on your own hardware without a dedicated ip address with open ports) hell, it doesn't even need to be tor, there are other overlay networks to use: i2p, freenet, lokinet, and others
>>T2A8WQ2W >do you even have a good reason for wanting it to be clearnet, faggot? mostly just so people will use it, probably gonna set up a /t/ board and I know most people are too fucking lazy to open up Tor just to browse an imageboard
